RR, out of curiousity, what figures did your car acheive?

he got around 276bhp i think!!!

....273 according to Superchips and regularly throughout the year's seasonal temperatures around 240 on Dyno-Dynamics at JKM. 458 Nm unrealistically high at SC too.

Some people might be pleased to be given much higher numbers than expected but I can't say I'm impressed.

Also, a very impersonal service and lacking any further info/data - So opposite to JKM. I went to Superchips with a totally open mind.

Robin, Im sure Jamie would have loved to 'chat' with everyone regarding their results but three people having to get through 30+ dyno runs? Not really practicle IMO.  :happy2:

It sounds like you had very different expectations then Robin?

They were trying to get everyone through yesterday for a lower price than JKM and at a higher number of cars than a normal JKM day.

I went to meet folks I've not spoken to before, cars I've not seen before etc.

I still maintain that if you take off 10% then you'll have a true reading.

Price was same as the JKM Rolling Road day that was held back in April. Agree that volume would have affected how the guys interact with everyone.

....Meeting others and seeing their cars was exactly why I went too. The rolling-road was just an interesting excuse.

273 less 10% = 246, which is much closer to JKM's and also closer to what I would have expected. So why was Superchips more than 10% different?

I'm guessing it was down to the "calculated" figures being used...
ie the system taking into account the intake temps, which as Steve said, seemed a bit high.

Robin, as you respect Mark's view on things @ VWR why don't you speak with him about the SC rollers as from what he was saying to me they are happy with them and veryfied accuracy only the day before we were there?

I do agree that figures did seem high to me to, but then spot on with others?

For me the day was more about you orrible lot rather than the numbers my car produced.  :happy2:

....

Unfortunately it all goes to prove how unreliable rolling-road sessions are unless you use the same one and same operator and use it as a diagnosis tool.

....I've already spoken to Mark in the past about why VWR use Superchips and understand and respect their views. It's all relative and further shows the wisdom in using the same rollers and operators.

Like I've already said, the day was most definitely about people and not numbers but that doesn't mean we can't now discuss the numbers, or more importantly why they seemed so high.

I guess I could ask the question why JKM's numbers are always so low. But they did match other Dyno-Dynamics rollers elsewhere.

I would say the figures are about 15% above what we would all expect using strats standard Pirelli as a base. But we all knew the figures would read high before we went and after is no different.  :chicken:
All we can do is compare our cars against others on the day. Mine and Robins both have Revo stage 2 and where pretty similar, Chris got higher figures with the same mods, but he has a manual and i think thats where his extra neds came from on the day.   :happy2:
Anyone who went and was expecting to see the same as JKM rollers, was as far out as the figures.  :innocent:

Da Cat speaks da troof!

I certainly was expecting higher numbers from SC than from JKM but not quite so far out.

I agree with you RR to an extent. I, like yourself, been to rolling road days at JKM that were just as busy, and they do take the time to look at your graph with you at the end of your run and tell you if it looks ok, and if there are any potential issues with your AFR/curves/surprise numbers. However, we must take into account that Superchips are a mass-market tuner who do not have the specialist knowledge and expertise on the 2.0T engine that perhaps JKM would have - considering that VAG is JKM's primary focus. Also I appreciate that the day was very busy for them, so this wasn't really a big thing for me as there were plenty of knowledgable members of the forum around to help me out   I would like to thank them for fitting me in - even though I wasn't on the initial list. I can imagine after about 5 cars that it gets very boring for them!!!

I was a little disappointed to not see a graph showing my AFR though...

This thing about the intake temperature reading is strange that they were taking it from the interior? I'm sure theres a valid reason though? Well...I'd like to think there was lol!

What I found most interesting was the method of driving on the rolling road. Perhaps this is because it was a Maha roller and not a DD ?? But, the operator at Superchips (what was his name?) brought the car to a halt, and then slipped the clutch to get the car into what I assume was 4th or 5th gear? And continued accelerating from there. At JKM they don't let the car get to a halt, and start the run from a rolling point. I must admit, i wasn't too happy with them slipping the clutch in such a high gear..., but then again I'm probably just concerned about nothing.

It was a good day, and as others have said the main thing was to meet other people from the forum.  :happy2: Thanks again to Nathan for organising a great 3rd meet  :happy2:

Your number plate doesn't look sh!te, but I do have issues with your tow hook which nearly crippled me! Ironic but extremely funny that I had expressed concern about pedestrian safety at the Reading meet and then yesterday I walked into it without genuinely seeing it!!
