Hi folks im looking for a little bit advice i have just got a 58 reg gti in white last month full lethers 18" monzas 5 door totaly love this car but it has a standerd basic head unit im looking fir somthing with sat nav blue tooth but most importantly pre outs for subs . i want to keep it as original as i can with the head unit but was wondering if i need the shark fin to run a standerd sat nav? also i have read about somthing about gate ways? what is this for? i have been playing with a megane coupe 1996 reg so only realy kno old school lol any advice and help is mucho apreciated  oh and sorry  for bad spellin:-(  :ashamed:

if you stay within the VW camp for radio's IE RNS510 + Bluetooth add-on etc. It has no RCA out at all, you will have to run a LOC (line our converter) or an Amp with music detection on speaker level input.

Otherwise I believe Pioneer and Kenwood have just made VW replacement radios, takes up the whole slot for radio, in addition has all the features you are after.
Around the £700 - £999 range I believe.

I thot that thay wouldnt have any pre outs . was hoping i could get some fited somehow. o well thanks for your help also will after market be plug and play or do i need to change things for this battery drain i have read about??

A 58 car is unlikely to have the earlier CanBus that causes this. 07 or earlier can do, but unlikely in yours  :happy2:

If in doubt, a VCDS scan will give you the part number. Earlier than a K bus is an issue. Later is fine.
