Hi all, newbie looking at buying a gti
« on: December 17, 2011, 02:14:41 am »
Hi all Gti owners, this is my first post so go easy...had a 07 gt sport170 tdi remapped to 198bhp for a few months but unfortunately I crashed it on Monday, been told by the insurance that it's a write off so I'm waiting for them to give me a settlement cheque, fancy getting a mk5 as a cheap run around when I receive my cheque so here are a few questions I would like to ask...
1.how many miles average you get to a tank of juice??
2.what mileage should the cambelt be changed?
Looking forward to yr answers

Depends what type of MK5 you are thinking of getting?

2.what mileage should the cambelt be changed?

60K or 4 years whichever occurs first

I get around 300 if I'm booting it constantly, and about 350 if the Mrs. does some of the tank.
If you are going for an older Mk5, a manual is probably a better bet. Don't worry about a higher mileage providing the service history is comprehensive, and the belt and water pump have been done on schedule.
