Welcome.
Yes the ED30/Pirelli share the 230bhp engine which is almost the same as S3 engine.
Typical stg 1 remap is approx 300 bhp

The funny square box you describe sounds like either the REVO select switch or the GIAC flashloader.
These are just two possible remap companies for the Edition 30.
Check out the forums for data to help you decide on what you are after.......each is subtley different

REVO
GIAC
Superchips
APR
Richter

I chose APR , others have their own preferences on here too.

if you have DSG you can even get upgrade software for that  :happy2:

Come along to the Superchips RR in June  :happy2: (std or remapped) to see how its running  :drinking:

Cheers for the advice, I guess it just seems a little easy to add the performance and I'm a bit nervous about breaking my new car by overloading the drive train, however everything that I have read seems to suggest that it is reliable and proven.

Have you done a 0-60 timing with the remap?

Cheers

drivetrain is fine APART from the clutch
Manual cars have had issues (I havent yet touch wood) , so def budget for an uprated clutch at some point would be prudent.
DSG cars should get more freq oil changes, they can also have clamping loads increased by software changes I eluded to earlier.

blatant plug : My APR stg1 review on here

ED30 remaps for the main players seem reliable and proven, but once youve bitten the bug you will need lots of extras too  :driver:

no havent done a 0-60,  low 5's on a remapped  ED3 has been done by a few members on here though.
My santa pod times have been poor (due to driver) so Im not the person to ask  :signLOL:

Let us know how it goes  :happy2:
