hi i got a 56 plate mk5 gti with 58k on the clock i am due a service in april next year i am just wondering what the requirments are as i know the 60k one is the big one on some models

cam belt change at 4 years or 60k miles whichever one comes sooner.
Without traction power is nothing!

That's not true, reading the manual it should be CHECKED at 60K and replaced at 80K.

Check VW site. it states 4 years or 60k.

However i booked mine this year being its 4th year and the woman at VW said it doesnt need it done lol. Baring in mind my golf only has 13k i cancelled it and will do it next year!

Yeah there seems some conflicting info from VW! I've only ever owned VW's from MK3 G40s to my current MK5 Golf GTi and always changed cambelts around the 60k as per normal...but the info i said is just what i read in my service book.

You can't go wrong changing it as close to 60k as possible...better safe than sorry :happy2:

I think there was an update on the service schedule which overrides the service manual.

Hopefully getting my cambelt done tomorrow.
