Fuel pump circuit, P3073 - 004 - Electrical malfunction - Intermittent

This fault came up on VAG com the other day, My car does feel pretty dead in the higher rev range, Has this got any link to fuelling/Misfuelling whatsoever? Also would it hurt my fuel economy and what is the solution to the problem does anyone know?
