Which HID Kit would you recommend? 5000k or 6000k
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:35:53 pm »
Hi Guys, Just wanted your view on which HID kit i should go for? I'm thinking of 5000k as i have been told the Xenon headlamps that come for VW Mk5 are 5000k and they look great, but on the other hand I have been told the 6000k are cool too as it gives you a hint of blue, not sure how much blue it gives out? does anyone know thanks :surprised:

I'm looking into this too. I ran a set of 6000k's on the mk4 and liked the look of those and the light output was very good compared with standard bulbs. They were a very white light with a hint of blue. Depends what you want from them really. From reading various posts on here about HIDs, 5000k seems to be where the most light output it. The further up the k's you go it tails off quite abit.

OE xenon's are 4300k, which give the best light output while retaining a white light.  Personally I still think they are tending toward the yellow side a bit.  I have 35w 5000k HID's fitted in projector headlights on my vRS and imo the light output and whiteness is perfect.  In the New Year I may get a kit for the Golf but it will need the anti-dazzle reflector bulbs........

4300K gives a nice crisp white, but if you want a little more blue go 5000k

I wouldn't go 6000k - it looks too blue especially if put through projectors.

I'd go for 5000k too as 6000k will be 'too blue'.  5000k will be nice and blue.

My 5000k bulbs have an essence of blue if you look close, but the light looks pure white.

Mine are 6000k. I wouldn't go higher than that personally.
GTI going...
