Retrofitting heated seats into recaros
« on: December 22, 2011, 12:52:27 pm »
I will be getting my cloth recaros retrimmed next year and I want to buy the heating elements and fit them at the same time. I've heard there is problem with the kufatec loom being lhd if u have a later car, but what if I bought the heating elements to fit a 54plate and the loom for earlier models would this be a lot easier to fit. Also is the heating element the same in the standard seats as the recaros. Hopefully someone can help as there has been people try to do this before on here.

The running in of either loom is the same.
The later loom being for LHD isn't a problem as such, more of an inconvenience.

If you have a soldering gun and a few metre's of suitable wiring to extend three wires, along with an hour of your time then it'd make the loom good for RHD.

Although being able to use an earlier loom would save you doing this and would be the easiest route to take.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

I can't see why you need to extend the looms, on the newer seats take the control box and loom off the passenger seat and swop it with the drivers seat.
As you are making the seats opt for the pre 2006 this requires 2x relay controllers compared to the newer one which does both seats

That way would work too, Ed. Have you tried it?
Guess you'd only have to swap the pins going into heater controls.

I fitted some 2008MY seats in a members 2004 car last sunday. That is how I know it works and yes I did have to swop 2 wires in the climatic control unit

I'm looking or the easiest way to fit them and I'd rather not have to extend wires as Im not sure how to go about it . I'm not limited in anyway by seats as I already have my seats so I can buy what ever heating element that is easier to fit so does anybody know part numbers of these

use the 2x Relay option and loom from kufatec for pre 2006 seats

You will also need some looms for the seats

On the vw golf mk5 the heater element is part of the seat cover. You would do better to buy the mk4 heated seat elements

Are you sure I'm sure I seen the elements on Etka on their own a while back but not looked in ages. Will the mk 4 ones work with the mk5 wiring

Yes, looks like you are correct. They are available. I know normal seats have the element as part of the seat cover.

the parts for the recaros are
