Which DV solution?
« on: December 22, 2011, 05:25:48 pm »
Hi guys,

I have asked this question elsewhere but nobody seems to have replied  :sad1:.

After a bit of reseach, posting on a forum and some back and forth from Regal, i've got a bit more info but still looking for some guidance.

I drive a 2006/55 A3 2.0T DSG with an AXX. 46k on the clock, BSH True Seal and NGK Iridiums and no other engine modifications at present. It'll have the original DV, which (at an educated guess) will be the original "G" diaphragm type. As far as I can tell it should be fully functional. I am looking for a replacement for this prior to going to Stage 1.

Anyhow, I've decided on a Forge item to replace the OEM one with. I know it's more expensive, but I'm looking for a bit more sound from the engine. Also I'm anxious that one of our resident tuners noted that the OEM rev "D" valve had a tendency to leak. Some of the members on VAGOC have noted their cars can hold higher boost pressures with the Forge as well.

Simultaneously, I want to relocate the DV from it's OEM location on the turbo (K03 stylee) to the front of the engine (K04 stylee)

There seem to be two options for relocation kits:

1. Awe tuning's kit (confirmed by Regal to not be suitable for Euro applications)
2. BSH's kit (which I've inferred will not be suitable for Euro applications on the same grounds the Awe one isn't)

I've read the following article, and tbh I'm none the wiser:

Regal have muddied the waters for me further with their last email:

"Convert over the OEM k04 throttle body pipe and re-circ. pipes and run a 90* diverter valve or the S3 adapter piece and a direct replacement valve for the k03 car in this position."

I'm looking for someone with expertise on the subject to tell me (in plain English - I'm a simple sorta fella) what parts I need to move my DV to the K04 position, and how to do it.

Muchos gracias,

Clueless-in-Staffordshire.
