Revo Stage 1 with launch control
« on: December 23, 2011, 08:20:34 pm »
I've seen some stuff on the net with a standard Mk5 GTi (Non ED 30) getting 270 bhp with K&N air intake and launch control.

Does anyone know if this is realistic, and how much the launch control is?

Also, they report 0-62 in 5.7 secs.

This sounds very tempting, as Stage 1 alone seems to up power to 240-250, with 0-60 in around 6.2, which is only Honda S2000 pace. That extra half second makes all the difference. I know it's not all about 0-60, as my Golf is great once I'm off the mark, but it's a bit slow on the uptake at the lights. It took me about 50 yards to get past a 325Ci earlier  :ashamed:

I'd be really interested to hear from anyone with launch control experience in their Mk5.

Launch control doesn't give you more power... it is merely a function of the gearbox by where you can rev the engine to about 3500 whilst the brake is depressed, once you release the brake you get 'launched'  :signLOL:

If you have DSG then you have launch control anyway.

I guessed that, but it helps you get the power down immediately doesn't it?

FWIW your not missing much imo, i never use mine as i have to go back and collect all the little bits of my expensive Michelins it leaves on the road...

I consistently get faster times at the 1/4 sprint at Inters not using launch control  :happy2:
