Saw my first ED35 today

This thread is a very interesting read indeed. Some very valid points too. I think you buy a Golf because you like the Golf. It is a very common model amongst other cars because of it's versatility and general all round package and to be fair VW have been kings at providing such a package for some time now. The Ed35, on face value, looks nice and does feature very subtle touches that differentiate it from standard/GTI models, which essentially every anniversary Golf has always done to justify it's production. I will say the £29,405 starting price tag for the 5dr DSG is expensive, yes, but VW know that people will buy it because of it's exclusivity amongst the other Golf ranges. I think given time the Edition 35 will become a sort after car especially if VW cap the production run like they should of with the Edition 30.
However.....
For an extra £340 you could buy a Scirocco R!

I do realise this! But it was just to emphasise what other car you could buy for similar money if you weren't to fussed about all round practicality and the Scirocco is better looking. I use to have a Scirocco, TDI none the less, but besides the big heavy doors and 4 seats it was very versatile, well I thought anyway, big boot & spacious inside. Not an obvious choice as a family car though!
