Now there is something about the mk6 i dont like , and the ed35 is no exception. I dont like the wheels for a start.
Put the ed30 and the ed35 side by side and ask me to choose , i'd go for the ed30 everytime  :popcornsoda:

I work for VW and we have a candy white one at Worcester, nothing special at all, doesn't shout 35 years if you ask me, for the price to I'd rather have the normal mk6 GTi, doesn't drive anywhere as near as nice as my Eddie but that may just be me being negative to the car! Certainly 100% not worth 30k

Im still trying to find a real photo of an Ed35 in Shadow blue as that would be my colour choice.
I always found it a shame they restricted the Ed30 colour range, at least with the Pirelli they offered it in graphite blue.
The Ed35 18" graphite wheels have grown on me with time, not sure of the silver versions and im still not a fan of them with the optional 19" black ones.

Have people not seen how much new cars are nowadays?

For example I got a "special offer" through from VW yesterday advertising their stock of the Golf 2.0TDI Match 5dr, at £22k each. So a fairly basic spec diesel Golf for £8k less than an Edition 35. As far as I'm concerned it's inline with the pricing of other models, and as many have pointed out, the additional standard equipment on an Edition 35 is worth more than the premium it costs over a standard GTI.

From Chris Harris's review, not sure where it's due to be published. By all accounts it sounds like he loved it.

What makes a car "special"?

Are there any sub-30k hot hatches that are "special"?

There shouldn't be an option of 19" wheels in my opinion. The wheels should be the same on all the ED35's. This is what defines the anniversary model for me.

Becomes just another car when you can spec it to look different.

Perhaps it was just European ones, or were the Pescaras just for the UK market? Either way you could buy them in Europe with two different alloy wheels.

I can see what your saying but its upto VWuk if they want to offer the option or not. They sort of got slated in the press with the ed30 for not offering the black monzas so i guess this time they gave the option.
If it was me i  would go with the 18s as the 19s are also an option on the standard GTI

Got a great review in Autocar. But 30k? Not on your nelly. I reckon this'll be my next Golf, but not until they're down to 15k used, in about 3 years time.

According to Chris Harris' Twitter he loved it, calling it the only car you'll ever need. He did also say he'd save the cash and get a normal MK6 GTI.
