This thread is a very interesting read indeed. Some very valid points too. I think you buy a Golf because you like the Golf. It is a very common model amongst other cars because of it's versatility and general all round package and to be fair VW have been kings at providing such a package for some time now. The Ed35, on face value, looks nice and does feature very subtle touches that differentiate it from standard/GTI models, which essentially every anniversary Golf has always done to justify it's production. I will say the £29,405 starting price tag for the 5dr DSG is expensive, yes, but VW know that people will buy it because of it's exclusivity amongst the other Golf ranges. I think given time the Edition 35 will become a sort after car especially if VW cap the production run like they should of with the Edition 30.
However.....
For an extra £340 you could buy a Scirocco R!
