Oil Cap Extension problem!
« on: April 16, 2009, 08:43:42 pm »
Hi All!
Decided to remove my engine cover on the S3 to fit the ITG filter I have. Had the cover off the edition 30 I owned a couple of times so I new it takes a bit of force! I removed the oil cap to start with and after a good few pulls the cover came off. Whilst I was recovering the 4 rubber bungs I noticed the oil cap extension (plastic tube) was not sat straight and to my horror it pulled off from the top cover! Looking inside it looks like it is glued in place! Has anyone else had this problem? I am covered by audi breakdown so maybe get them to fix it! Not had a good day today and this tops it all off!

Cheers John

I thought it screwed on with the glue to keep it secure...
Without traction power is nothing!

Well mine just turns and turns! Audi are coming out in the morn to sort it out hopefully! Obviously it broke as I tried to remove the oil cap which was very stiff!!!

Looking on some other forums this tube can be removed and the cap can fit to the top cover as that has the keyway to accept the oil cap! Good idea if you are fitting a CAI.

Car is now at Audi waiting for new rocker cover as the extension as part of the cover! 2 hours labour to fit! Lucky for me warrenty covers this! Something for everyone to watch out for when removing there engine cover in the future! My local audi garage gad not seen this before so maybe mine had a fault in it! Left the car with them and will get it back monday!
