Golf R has the power sapping haldex.

I has a go with a golf R when mine was on the stock map and there was nothing in it.

I'm with hedge, I'd take the golf.

Have a drive of a megane and you will change your mind.  Awesome bits of kit.  Interior is a huge improvement on older ones.  Nice place to be.

Id have the megane.  Would rather a rocco r though

If I wanted a car to spank around a track, yes. But for everyday comfort, I think the golf would be better.

I'd take the golf.

If I was having a track day I'd take the meganne (for the day) based on all the great feedback it gets but I'd never in a million years consider owning one

Golf r for me, Meg is an awesome car for a fwd hatch but if you want a fast track car buy a 2k 172 that your not bothered about putting on its roof, Renaultsport are toning them down IMO, the meg trophy is a 250 with a few little tweaks, gone are the days of v6 engines clios , clios  with 4k dampers on, stripping out meganes with cages.... What we get know is a car that wants to be like a golf to sell more units.

I had the Megane on a 3+ day test drive, awesome car, great road manners, loads of power, but as others have said, I just couldn't put £25k of my own money into one!
