What do people average on fuel in the city
« on: December 24, 2011, 11:57:38 pm »
I drive my car daily in the city, with loads of start and stops and the best my trip computer shows is 19 MPG, It really struggles to go above this, Is this the same as others are getting on their gti? It could be normal but with £30 of unleaded fuel 90 miles in the city worrys me  :sad1:

Low 20s around town in my GTI. Now using girlfriends sootpig which returns 40+ around town and 60+ on the A69/A66 and A1 :jumping:  Consumption will improve once I repair all the cracks and holes in the front end :signLOL: :signLOL:

City driving - 22-24mpg typically.
Motorway - 28-35 mpg.

In all honesty, a lot depends on your right foot.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

My 14 mile round trip to work usualy returns ~33-35mpg on the way there and 20-24mpg on the way home... 7 miles to work all down hill & 7 miles home all up hill  :jumping:

If MPG is really important to you then perhaps a GTi isnt the car for you

I do a lot of city driving stopping and starting all the time.
I get anything between 17.5 mpg to 21.5
I don't do high mileage so i don't worry about the cost of V Power fuel that i always use.

As above, you don't buy a hot hatch if you're worried about fuel.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
