Headlight condensation

Hi everyone

Test drive an 07 GTI last week and loved it. Had it for the day to get used to the dsg box and I have to say that this is perfect!

Anyway, it rained on the day and I noticed that there was condensation on the headlight casing on both sides. Will this need new headlights or is there a fix or part that can be replaced. It's important as itll be part of the negotiation :p

I had the same problem with some second hand xenon lights,I put some packs of silca gel found  packaged with electrical components to stop condensation and placed them inside the rubber caps which cover the sidelights and I've never had any trouble since!

^^^Same here on my mrs' car, bought a 10g pouch for each side (cost pennies on eBay as I have always chucked them with having pets) and the problem literally went away within a day.

Just make sure lights are not cracked or you'll need to replace.

Theres been a few threads on this recently. It's a lot to do with the damp mild weather we've had of late. Either as above use silica or just run the car without the bulb covers on during a small (hopefully dry) journey and all should be sorted. Certainly nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the replies. I had a brainwave and used the search function lol! Silica gel seems to be the general consensus and obviously not a reason to reject the car.

Still umming and arring over it but I'm urging on side of going for it. Saturday is my deadline for decision making

It's very common and nothing to worry about.

We had an 11 plate Audi A1 in today that did the same thing.
