S3 brakes back from powder coater............
« on: December 28, 2011, 11:07:18 am »
................And I think I like them!

Unfortunately I chipped a bit of paint on the clip when assembling them, nothing a bit of touch up can't solve though.  :happy2:

Looks great!  :happy2:

Although you may run into issues where they have gone a little coat happy and done the machined surfaces, best bet is to remove it before you fit them  :happy2:

There was a little over spray, but I have cleaned that all away, what other machined surfaces can you see that are coated???

Now looking for some advice, I want to fully assemble the calipers so they are ready to just fit to the car when the mechanic gets his hands on them.  Question is, is it possible to fit the pads etc, or will this have to be done when the brake is fitted to the car?  If I can do it, can anyone enlighten me on which side of the car is the pad wear sensor, and do the hoses leave the back of the brake pointing up (my OE hoses do) or pointing down?

Cheers, Lee.

Holy 3 question marks batman

Might be down to the picture angle but the only parts to watch are the pad gallery where the pad 'ears' sit on the carrier and the rear of the carrier to hub mounting surface

It's possible to fit them with the pads already in and on mine both pipes lead off upwards  :happy2:

  It must be the picture as the pad gallery is clear of paint, thanks for your response regarding the hose orientation, can you confirm which side the pad wear sensor is?  I have it on good authority it is on the drivers side!

Wear sensor goes on the passenger side caliper in the piston.

Arrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!  Just fitted it to the drivers side, I wonder if it's different on the Skoda?
