Fitting an Alpine 6 CD changer

I've decided to fit an Alpine CD changer in my boot rather than the OEM VW one which goes in the arm rest. The Alpine has a 20 bit processor with an excellent D/A converter.

I have an OEM RNS 510* sat nav, Kenwood amps, Pioneer underseat Sub, Morel 6.5", 5.5" mid/bass units and Morel silk dome tweeters. The overall sound is superb, but the CD player could be improved. Hence the Alpine.

BTW, the RNS on it's own sounds rubbish as did the OEM speakers. I also did not like the Dynaudio sound, though this is excellent value for money..

I mainly play Classical music so a decent system, I feel, is mandatory. Techno also finds it's way in sometimes! It's cost an arm and a leg so far.

Personally speaking Asker the CD changer would be a waste of space when you have an SD card, Hdd and MDI already in there.

First things first: Happy New Year to all three of you. Must meet when you're next in the deep South/Big Smoke.

I'm one of those very old fashioned people who loves handling my vinyl and my CDs. Just love the whole pallava! I might eventually be convinced to succumb, but there will be lots of kicking and screaming.

Vinyl is best, then CD and all the rest are way, way behind. I'll join the masses only on the day I die!

In that case then either the Alpine or Kenwood the wiring should be plug and play as long as there is an adaptor for either of them.

The Alpine is the best sounding. It's to be fitted on the 5th Jan. The Alpine, I feel, also sounds better than the CD/DVD of the RNS 510. 
You know how fussy I am about sound quality. Without my music, the drive becomes boring.
I'll go hard drive etc soon. Just enjoying being old fashioned for the moment.
BTW, my FM on the RNS is interference free and sounds superb. If I upgrade the radio, I'll go for Internet Radio as I feel DAB is neither fish nor foul.

imo your going the wrong route, your going the route audio dealers will tell you as its the long held myth. IMHO you need to add a processor between the headunit and the amp.  A JBL MS8 would make such a difference. Theres audio competiton cars out there ive heard that use oem headunits. Modern DACs are not the issue they were years ago but modern DACs are indistiguishable to the human ear once the frequency responces are mached. infact if anything its the analogue side that is an issue nowadays not the digital if itis an issue. Your ear/brain system is simply not sensitive enought, but it can tell frequency responce issues and slight level differences (a great selling trick). Get it processed you won't regret it

Asker you can change the car now if you want it but unfortunately you'll have to pay in excess of £120k for the Bentley
