Audi RS3 values and wait times

Seeing as a basic spec RS3 is £40k and 'nearly new' is about 43k to beat a waiting list, does anyone know what the waiting time is? Does anyone see their used asking price dropping within next 6 months?

I know a bloke who ordered one, got sick of waiting due to them putting the build back by several months numerous times, sold his slot for a fully loaded racing mica one, and bought a lesser specced ibis white one.

Audi are struggling to sell their allotment was my understanding? waiting list is due to problems at the factory rather than demand outstripping supply with the factory at full capacity. because of this you won't get money off a brand new order. one person got £500 off or something and apparently the dealer principle screwed at the salesman.

in terms of resale values the new A3 will probably be released around March time. watch RS3 values tumble sharpish after that. i reckon year old ones will be worth around £25k

What planet you on....   you can't get a decent specc'd TTRS for that yet and they have been around a good while now. Just because a new A3 is going to be released doesn't mean the top of the range older model is going to fall in value like a grand piano falling off the empire state building... We may not even see an RS3 in the new shape and the S3 will still be some way off.  

Also the RS3's are being built in batches that's why they are in such short supply hence potiential owners loosing patience with Audi, the original allocation of 500 we're snapped up pretty quickly and another 100 released to the UK market, these have since been allocated, I know as I tried my various sources to obtain one for a friend all to no avail.  Even dealer demo cars we're cancelled to fill the demand for them. Stoke Audi had to share their"marketing car with the branches in the chain, but sold it as soon as it arrived. The new owner had to wait several months for it though as they couldn't release the car.

Another point was issues with the paint as certain paints required pigments that was unavailable due the Japenese Tsumani, I beleive this is now recovering, however not for the batch of Suzuka Grey cars which owners (myself included) are still waiting to be built.  

I placed my order in March, no due date yet but my order (spec) was accepted for build 2 weeks ago.  

There's several knocking about at dealers but these are now one owner cars from people hopeing to make a quick buck on them due to the severe delays. Even red one, now that one has dropped in price....

Now moved from a delears in Cardiff to Bath Audi. Hopefully they sell it with the garish red seats...

Yeah that's madness - even the Golf R has barely hit those prices and it's a far less desirable car. I'd reckon the depreciation to be steeper on the RS3 than the TTRS, but that's just a hunch.

TTRS can be had now for sub 30k, never had a strong resale value.

RS3 is in effect a S3 with a 5 holer in it an extra dsg gear and big brakes which everybody wants to upgrade, nothing like a new model to hit values. Be a brave man to pay a premium for one.

The dealers will play their hand about availability but it's not desire it's build issues. We discuss these cars in an enthusiast environment, it won't be enthusiasts who will dictate second hand values for these thing in 18 months time

first comment re: discount was taken from an RS3 buyer on VAGOC. i believe that was the amount quoted, but i may be mistaken.

second comment re: the second hand value when the new car comes out... well we'll have to wait and see won't we? i'd be surprised if i'm wrong. the TT-RS is a far more desirable car than the RS3 and the TT has been one of the strongest resale cars in the country for many a year now. the A3 holds it's value well, but the 5-banger will only appeal to enthusiasts and the minute the new model is released the enthusiasts will want one of those instead. just my 2p, and i may be wrong - but i'd be surprised if i am.

plus, imho, you have to be fairly "special" to pay £50k for a Golf in a pretty frock - no offence to any potential purchasers intended.

The 1M bobbed above list for a while, now they've started to drop with loads of sub-40k cars. The Audi will do the same, despite what speculators are saying to the contrary. It's hardly in their interests to admit its like any new car, and will lose as such.

I'd hope people were buying them to enjoy, rather that try and make a fast buck. It'll still do better than most other cars, so you're not really losing.

44k TTRS thats 3 years old still around the 30k plus marker so dunno!

An Audi RS3 (A3) is not as typically strong on residuals as the old Audi Nipple tho (TT, cos every T1TZ got one  )
