Aftermarket spring damper combos
« on: January 01, 2012, 03:30:52 pm »
Hi guys thinking of some aftermarket suspension for my Golf, options I was thinking are:

Eibach ProStreet coilovers
KW variant 1
Bilstein/Eibach spring damper combo(uses B12 damper)

These parts all seem to be similar(ish) in price, what would use recommend. It will only be for street use so don't want them to be too harsh. Along with this I was also thinking a WALK kit and Eibach front and rear anti roll bar kit. Opinions?

B12 kit (uses either H&R or Eibach matched springs) or B8 dampers with your choice of spring  :happy2:

The kit I'm Looking at has the B12 dampers with Eibach matched springs.

With aftermarket susp, is it worth F&R ARBs? And WALK

Technically no such thing as a B12 damper, the B8 damper when used with matched springs becomes the 'B12 kit'   :happy2:
I have both H&R arbs and a WALK kit and would recommend both very highly  :happy2:

Ok cool, wasn't aware of that. B12 kit is highly rated and along with ARBs and WALK I'd imagine it would transform the car, any other parts I'd be worth upgrading suspension wise....

Yeah the Bilstein stuff is extremely good stuff  :happy2:
I have the AP (VWR) springs on stock dampers and combined with the arbs and WALK it makes quite a difference to the drive imo, lower subframe mount is also a good and relatively cheap mod to tighten things up too

Was thinking off going Eibach springs but it's gonna be more time consuming to fit, as id think the B12 kit comes assembled ready to fit already

Id love to get that B12 kit... that would be perfect, 30mm drop and better handling with (i would imagine) retaining 90% of the ride comfort

It will be supplied in kit form so won't be any more time consuming or expensive to fit than dampers and springs independently sourced
Only the fronts could be pre assembled anyway as on the rear the springs are damper are fixed separately..

Got it in one  :happy2:

I'd even go as far as saying 95% ride comfort over stock
