As the title says really chaps, any techniques or products available that can limit it because even though I think it's dry you can really feel the build of calcium etc on the paintwork and I really don't fancy it etching into it.

If your still getting water spots just use a Quick Detailer when your done, something like Dodo Juice Red Mist will get rid of any watermarks and leave you with some extra protection!

I find that after rinsing the car with the hose I use it to sheet the water the best I can then use a drying towel I got from a chemical guys dealer for a tenner works really well since using it I hardly get water spots anymore

Greenouse is right, Red Mist is an excellent product and it offers extra protection as it's a sealant... there is another Dodo product as well though, which is a dedicated drying aid called Time to Dry, which helps to displace the water and prevents water spots by doing so. You just spray a bit on while the car is wet, then dry it as you normally do with the microfibre drying towel

Also buy a proper water softener...
Have a look here...

Water Genie is the one you want, you'll notice the difference all round the house not just your car...
Not cheap mind. But you can always take it with you when you move.
