spare wheel delete

anyone used this?

http://www.slime.com/shop/smart-spair-15-minute-emergency-tire-repair-ss-pdq06/

http://www.directcarparts.co.uk/product/275/5033s/slime-smart-spair---emergency-tyre-repair-kit.html

i think with slime you CAN repair the tyre after using it as its soluble in water unlike the foam stuff which wrecks the tyre and goes all over the car in the process.

the spare wheel and jack weight over 20kg so i wouldn't mind throwing them out.

all my recent cars have not had spare wheels but tyre inflation kits (mini cooper, cooper S, clio 198 and clio 197).

yeah i know its not a permanent fix. i wouldn't run it for longer than the distance to a tyre shop anyway. the slime can be cleaned out as its water soluble unlike some of the foam types so the tyre can still be repaired.

just wondered how effective it is as I've had it on 4 cars and never actually used it but want to bin my spare to save weight.

You can make the same weight saving by only filling your car half full of petrol. That way when you get a split sidewall (Slime or foam won't do anything here) you can change the wheel and drive on.  :happy2:
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

had a split tyre wall on my 182 but luckily managed to get it home before it was flat

plus I'm in the RAC and have the VW recovery if it came to it.
