GTi back box on a GT TDI?
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:39:30 pm »
Hiya guys

I was wondering if you could tell me if a GTi back box will fit on a GT TDI? Will it have any bad effects?
I'm thinking of fitting on mainly for cosmetics to go with the GTi rear bumper I'm thinking of getting.

Thanks

Yes it's fine.

You'll need to mate the backbox with your centre pipe somehow as they are different diameter, I bought a clamp on eBay for about £8 which was for a 55mm to ~63.5mm sleeve (it needs to be a tad bigger than this to slip over).

Cut the exhaust myself with a grinder, you could get an exhaust place to fit it for not a lot of money.

The hanging points are the same  :happy2:
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Do  you  think  55mm  X  65mm  would be  better  for  the  sleeve sizing? :happy2:

Not sure, pretty sure it was 55mm and ~64mm outside diameters of the piping I measured, the guy made up a sleeve that's a tad bigger inner diamater, but yeh 65mm would do too.
