New uprated clutch - what else?
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:43:39 pm »
Hi Guys,

Will be uprating my clutch to the Sachs one hopefully soon...

My clutch feels a bit juddery sometimes when engaging so was going to replace the DMF aswell(could this just be the clutch?), but was going to replace the Clutch slave cylinder/bearing aswell...

Anything else? Flywheel bolts?

Or am I overkilling it?

Any advice appreciated... Cheers,

Dom

When I fitted my Sachs kit in my last Leon I replaced the clutch kit and release bearing setup and the dmf and bolts.
My car had covered 40000 miles and when checking the flywheel for play etc it was no worse than the new one.
Even when new the dmf will have quite a lot of movement in and out and I think lots replace them prematurely when there's nothing wrong with them.
When I checked mine I thought oh that's knackered but the new one was exactly the same.
I've been a technician for 17 years and have never came across a manufacture that has so much free play in a serviceable unit.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm thinking of changing mine due to the amount of slippage it's seen and for peace of mind...

I'm getting a LUK DMF but trying to find out whether the bolts come with it, or the part numbers for the flywheel bolts...

Cheers,

When I replaced my luk flywheel it did not come with the bolts but I asked my supplier who had them in stock although I no longer have the part number as the invoice etc went with the sale of the car.
I used fps for my flywheel and bolts although the flywheel bolts could be got from a dealer or tps whichever is closest.

Euro car parts list the correct bolts for the flywheel. Dirt cheap so worth changing as a matter of course. Slave cylinder is also a fairly cheap part so worth changing while your at it too. Where you getting yours done btw? Mines been slipping madly recently and needs doing!
