The early ones were gash.

I had one done under warranty on my first Skoda but all my subsequent cars have been fine.

SWMBO has a 2004 SE, the indicator stalk had a mind of it's own (the wrong indicator flashed at times  :stupid: ) but the CC still worked perfectly.
I replaced the stalk last year(?) and it has been perfect since  :happy2:

Never had a problem so far with mine but it was retro-fitted last year so not as old as the car itself

No it was a 2006 car without the speedo symbol on the stalk.

I was just about to start a new topic about this, I have CC which I retro fitted in both cars, recently I have experienced the same problem Martin (Gizmo68) has mentioned in the Golf.  And then last week, in the vRS the CC wouldn't work.  However on the return journey it was fine!  Yesterday I had it on for about 50 miles with out incident, then on the way home from Brands Hatch it was on and working fine until I touched the - button to reduce speed, at this point it went off and wouldn't turn on again, but when I turned the ignition off and on it was fine...... :stupid:

I wondered about giving it a clean, but it's only been on a few weeks and it was a brand new stalk.

Edit:  Is this a good cleaner? - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_categoryId_255223_productId_195717_langId_-1?cm_mmc=Shopping-_-Google%20Product%20Search-_-Car%20Care%20%26%20Maintenance%2FEngine%20Oils%20%26%20Car%20Fluids%2FLubricating%20%26%20Penetrating%20Oil-_-Halfords%20Electrical%20Contact%20Cleaner%20400ml&source=shopping

TSB?

Both the cars are MY2007 but the CC stalks are new, do you think cleaning will sort the problem on the vRS?

Technical Service Bulletin.

If your stalks are new take them back as they'll covered under new parts warranty.

The cleaning just prolongs the agony.
