Help with highline functions
« on: January 05, 2012, 11:14:47 pm »
Can anyone tell me if the below is possible?

I have activated the auto locking off the car once I set off but is there an option that will unlock the door when I turn off and take the key out?

At the moment you have to pull the handle, let go and pull it again. No major issue just that my MKIV used to unlock automatically when taking the key out the ignition.

The only problem I have with it is when I have a passenger who is too eager to get out the car they yank the handle and keep pulling and don't understand why its not opening.

Thanks in advance.

Can be set but dunno about highline. I used VCDS to unlock the doors when the key is taken out.

Pulling the handle - remember older cars used to come with a door lock to open before you could pull the handle. Pulling the handle once unlocks it and the second time opens the door.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Sam,
Assuming you have, or have access to VCDS - select the convenience module - it is in there, obvious which one when you look at the Long coding helper  :happy2:

Sorry I'm a bit new to this. Is VCDS just software like VAGCOM that you connect up to the car with a cable?

Vcds is vagcom. New name.

In the Convenience menu within Highline, I have 3 options. They are single door opening, auto lock & auto unlock (might say auto open & auto close, I can't remember). With them activated  it locks as I pull away & unlocks when I remove the key.

Thanks, I had a look several times but must have missed it.
I'll see if I can get it working tomorrow.

I had a play with the settings today but with no luck.
Pretty sure auto close locks the doors when you drive off.
So I presumed Auto open would unlock the car when taking the key out the ignition but it doesn't.
I can't see what it does.

Can anyone shed any light on what auto open actually does?

Auto open should open the doors when the key is removed.
Just make sure if you use the option in the highline that the arrow either side moves. with Vag-com it is easy to see that you have enabled it

Not quite sure what you mean. To me it looks like the arrow on the right  shows the selection you on on and the arrow on the left shows of you have enabled that option.

So I have scrolled down to auto.open, this shows an arrow on the right.
I then press ok which shows me an arrow on the left also.

To finish I press the down arrow to move to the back option. At this point the arrow on the right moves down from auto.open to show I have selected back.
