Garage blockers
« on: January 06, 2012, 09:32:58 pm »
 :fighting:  :fighting:

Once again some fecker has parked in front of my garage so I can't park my car. Normally anyone parked there is gone pretty quick eg 5-10 mins as they go to pick stuff from the local corner shop or chemist. This one's been there for over an hour and may be longer.

Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening? Live on a main road and there's a zebra crossing so zigzag markings cover the front of the dropped kerb.

Been round all the houses but no one's owning up.  :fighting:

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Someone parked in my home drive once.
I blocked him in.
Once he returned he rang my door bell and I let him wait for a good 30-40 mins.
I then went outside and had a bit of a go.
Never saw the prat again.

Tip of a spark plug through the window, good fun finding the penetrating item...so I'm told...

Have you put some sort of sign up/stickers saying you need constant access and to please respect it?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

My sister had a bit of hassle with a neighbour with this. Unfortunately it's only illegal if it's obstructing a car leaving the garage rather entering it.

I've had this recently, new neighbours parking across our drive, we came home one night and couldn't get on the drive, I'd had a glass or 2 and knocked on theirs, it hasn't happened since

As boxxer said it is illegal to block you getting off your drive and the police can be connected, but it you want to get on it and someone is blocking it, there is nothing you can do.

Take the valves out of the tyres as an indication of your displeasure?

If you have 2 trolley jacks you could always move the car and put it on the zig zag lines, the coppers will not only fine them £90 but will also issue 3 points to the owner too.

About 20 years back one of the neighbours blocked my fathers car in our garage, so I called 3 of my mates and we bumped the car out of the way, unfortunately during moving it we managed to kink one of his wheelarches, he was not best pleased but as it was on private property there was nowt he could do about it, he never parked there again and he moved house some 9 months later.

We had issues with the next residents tho, they decided that they could park at the rear of their house (where they have no legal access for vehicles as its was land owned by my parents!), anyhoo after me and my bro went round to explain this he soon came round to our way of thinking.

All was well for about 3 weeks until he decided to try again, no chance matey!, me and my brother went round again and had words, he got a bit shirty so we thought fair enuff you been warned, it was then we decided to move my parents caravan to behind his house placing it exactly 3ft from his back wall which stopped ANYONE parking there and it also blocked out most of the light from the rear of his house. We left it there for 4 months until we moved it and my father installed foldable poles there to stop anyone parking and every time they came back from holiday that caravan was back up against his house!.

After this my parents got sick of it and got a solicitor to record that those 3 houses do not have vehicular access to behind the house, it was added to the deeds of those 3 houses so everyone knew the score!.
The lageal bills were split with the neighbour who was also sick of them trying to park on his land (we shared a Driveway to access the 2 houses behind!.

No more problems after that!.
