SuperPro's alternative to WALK kit....
« on: January 08, 2012, 10:55:19 am »
My console bushes are screwed so the cheapest way to replace them is to fit SoperPro bushes. These also gives the added benifit as being better bushes than you get in the WALK kit (aparently!)....

Now, the SuperPro bushed are acentric so my question is what is the correct orientation to fit them?

Any tips on what I should get the tracking set too?

Is this the correct orientation??

The pic shows the bush in the anti lift position. If you have the bush facing the outside of the console then that is the extra caster position iirc. I used to have pdf with the full explanations on but its vanished.  A sheet will come with the bushes explaining the best orientation to mount the bushes.

As far as alignment settings go then just stick to stock all round.

Superpro do their own wishbones now too. Have a look on their site a few newsletters back.

Slightly better compound and cheaper to buy.  The whilteline is an easier DIY fit where the Superpro ideally needs a press.

how do you know the insert is correctly orientated?

i personally would (and did) pay the extra and get the whiteline kit.

Hopefully the fitter can install it correctly.  Comes with instructions to advise which orientation does what.

SuperPro - alternative to WALK or just a compromise?

What's better on them? There are Whiteline ALKs several years old without any visible
wear to the bushing. So it's bushing seems to be almost perfect.

But from my point of view the most important difference is:

The Whiteline ALK changes bush position in three ways: lower, outward and forward.
How will the SuperPro be able to push it forward?

SuperPro is cheaper. But I don't see any point in being 'better'. Seems even worse to
me due to it's simple and compromised construction and the more difficult ( = expensive)
installation compared to Whiteline.

Don't get me wrong. Nothing against SuperPro who make proper bushes (superior in
quality to Powerflex). I just want to explain the difference and why Whiteline decided
to design their own differently shaped alloy console.

If you fit them even though turn them at a 120° position (outward + low). If you want to
preserve some amount of ride comfort you might drill some small holes into the opposite
site (there's still enough 'meat' in it). That's why the WL ALK also has these drilled holes.
