Brakes gt sport TDI!
« on: January 12, 2012, 09:02:01 pm »
More questions for you lot to help with, i will be replacing my rear discs and pads soon, (fronts eventually) and wondered whats a good upgrade?

Either vented or drilled discs, descent pads.

Maybe upgrade to larger oem, but what would i need?

Cheers guys

Personally i wouldnt spend a huge amount on the rears, good quality oem spec discs and if you fancy a fast road pad something like the Hawk HPS are pretty good and inexpensive for the rear  :happy2:

Easiest larger rear oem upgrade would be the 286mm solids from the GTi/Cupra, discs calipers and carriers required although you may get away with retaining your caliper but not 100% on if it is the same tbh (assuming you have the 232mm rears now?)

Ok will measure them up and see what I have, like the sound of maybe just the gti upgrade if I have the same calipers maybe?

At the very least though you will need the GTi carriers to space the caliper out to clear the bigger disc,
Even if you cant retain your original calipers then a full used rear set up from a GTi/Cupra should be fairly inexpensive i'd have thought  :happy2:

Someone like DaveB (aka Prof. Friction) will tell you instantly or failing that a quick ETKA cross reference should tell you
