improve engine cooling - additional OEM radiator
« on: January 05, 2012, 03:02:45 pm »
For those of you running K04s on track or in hot climate:

Some DSG Mk.V GTIs, R32s or Mk.VI Rs have an additional water cooler/radiator
on the passengers side (drivers side on continental eutopean cars of course).

That's the only reason VW built GTIs (and Rs) with open grills.

Interesting! That's what makes the open fog grill on the right as you look at the car useful.  Are you looking into fitting?

I just have 200 ponies under my bonnet.
Oil temperature never exceeded 113° C-

But if I swap my K03 for a K04 this would be my list:
K04, DP, S3 IC, HPFP, LSD, additional cooling

1) Are all these needed for this mod ?

1K0 121 212 C Zusatzwasserkühler (aktuelle TN) 170,17 €
1K0 122 051 BC Wasserschlauch Heißland
1K0 121 064 A Rohr
1K0 121 101 CB Rohr
1K0 121 087 J Adapter
1K0 121 156 BA Schlauch
1K0 121 333 A Lufteinlassführung
1K0 122 291 M Schnellverschluss
1K0 121 156 BC Schlauch Schnellverschluss
06F 121 111 1H Thermostat ED30

In my country, the price for all of these is around 400E (140E the radiator and 260E for all tthe fittings and hoses from the list)

2) 06F 121 111 H Thermostat ED30 > is this really needed with the install of the additional radiator ? (any difference between the H version and the one present on my AXX engine code ?)

3) My open griiles came with a duct for the left side that has this code on it > 1k0 853 950 A . Does anyone know what it's for ?

I thought the duct was meant for dsg cooling in hot climates but vw subsequently discovered it wasn't really needed.
Without traction power is nothing!
