« on: January 13, 2012, 12:37:51 pm »
Any one got any experiance of these? What are they like compared to the GTI?

Which one is the better model to get i.e. 140/170bhp?

Whats mpg like?

Any scope for tuning? remap etc

My friend loves his but at the same time always wishes for more umpfh.. Id say if you can afford a bigger engine go for the bigger engine. fair play on mpg though! they do brilliant around town.

I've got the TSI 170 and I've had a 140 before. Both have been amazing, no problems as of yet (slightly lumpy idle at the moment) but really good. I love having the low down supercharger power, and it picks up a lot of power higher up. I've just done 100 miles at 70mph and some A roads and got 44mpg average (indicated) I get at least 400 miles to a tank anything upto 520 if on the motorway all the time.

Remap wise, you're looking at about 200-210 stage 1 and it makes it drive amazing. Mpg also goes up to about 50mpg on the motorway (did for me anyway). Someone described the 1.4tsi remapped is the same high up as a standard 210 2.0T but with faster/stronger pick up from low down (Ive never driven a 2.0T so cant compare myself)

As for 140 vs 170, the 140 is the better buy in terms of if its cheaper, but I personally wanted the exhaust showing so went 170 (it also has a boost gauge but I'd rather have a temp gauge than this) All depends on price, engine wise they're identical and both map up to 205ish.

Beyond stage 1 you can realistically get upto 250bhp but is a lot of money (turbo back, intercooler, induction kit, another map) then if you want more you can get a hybrid turbo or k04 but then you'll have to look at an upgraded fuel pump etc.

Heres REVOs published stage 1

Stage 1 = predicted 210-225hp
http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=59

stage 2 = predicted 218hp-233Hp
http://www.revotechnik.com/index.php?mod=show_news&id_nws=60

quite impressive for a 1.4, makes me wonder what would happen to the gti if they twin charged it  me thinks it would be be too much  :driver:

and apparently the fabia vrs gets slightly better results

my missus drives 1.4 tsi dsg 170 bhp 2008 with 40k miles on the clock and it's totally different than gti but much slower from 60 mph onwards due to capacity. Hers has a bit of bad luck as was mapped to 200 bhp when bought in june 2010 and in april 2011 turbo valve went bust luckily on the warranty. After this incident I went back to 170 bhp thinking the engine is pushed already.
Last week water pump went bust unfortunately out of warranty so spend 500 quid to sort it out. According to the dealer this happens very rarely but still I didn't expect for a car with that mileage

Apart from those issues the car is pleasure to drive. More civilized than my modded gti

Would there be any power/throttle response by just adding an ITG to the stage 1 without the Miltek TBE ? (ITG would be a cheap mod compared to Milltek)
