Hose clip help... Special tool??
« on: January 13, 2012, 07:30:15 pm »

There is a hose that is connected to the back left of the rocker cover that I need to disconnect

It has a special type of hose clip on that I seam to remember need a special tool?

Is it possible to remove them with snips or pliers and just replace them with stainless jubilees?

Thanks,  :drinking:

Mike

Just use a large pair of pliers to expand them and move the hose clip off the rocker cover.

Are you sure you know the type I mean?  It's not the type you squeeze with pliers to open.

If they're the clic or clic r type you may need one of these babies:

Thanks very much

Looks like perhaps it's that type.

I hope they can be removed without as I wanted to do it in the morning and Halfords don't sell them. ECP dont hold them in stock either

Bending and twisting with strong pliers to deform the unwanted clip so you could slide/cut it off and replace with SS jubilee.

Hope it goes well Mike!

It's not one of these you are after is it? I have one but if the clips are really tight the cable snaps. Mines gone twice now grrr.

I've used a pair of self grip pliers from halfrauds for this kind of thing.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I should really do a vid to show the best and easiest way to get these clips off.

Side cutters are my choice of weapon. Just use them to pop the raised part of the clip up at an angle then work back to where the clip is held tight.
