Sanding the badge first is very important
The first one I did looked stunning, but I hardly sanded it at all
The clear coat, the paint and the acid etch primer started to chip and flake in no time.
(still it was really easy to take off all the paint and start again)
Second badge I did, I made sure I sanded the chrome finish on the badge really well, so the acid etch primer then keyed great!
I wanted to do the job right once and for all, so I took my time.
I did a lot of thin coats of primer and then left it overnight. Then lots of thin coats of satin black! followed by lots of thin clear coats
I probably used far too much paint……but after over 1 year later there are no stone chips, cracks or flaking at all.
