Badges use either fishing line or a credit card under them.

For the boot handle you need to remove the interior trim (one screw in each 'handle' and a good pull to release the clips, do not do this in the cold as the trim will be more brittle and will more than likely split).
Once the trim is off there are 3 allen head bolts holding the handle on.

Badge, i used a stanley knife/flat blade and prised it off. Very easy!!

Gti badge - use fishing line and go behind it pulling it side to side.

Boot handle - remove inner plastic to get to it. IIRC 3 torx bolts holds it in place.

can also use dental floss instead of a fishing line

Does the chrom part of the handle split into 2 like the front badge i.e chrome front separates from the back?

Are you talking about the boot interior? Requires brute force and removal tools to help.

Removed the two screws in each handle
And I'm just pulling and nothing at all and I'm thinking of if it's this hard to get off god knows what it is like to get back on  :signLOL:
All I want to do is spray the chrome part steel grey to go with my car ! :happy2:

Took me a good 30 mins I think of trying. Had some removal tools to wedge the cover from the boot and worked my way round.

You want to spray the badge. All I wanted to do was insert a straw!

B a good pull to release the clips, do not do this in the cold as the trim will be more brittle and will more than likely split).

You do need to pull it good and hard!! note what I said about the cold though!

Insert a straw

Ye that's what I am thinking it is cold outside and maybe that is having an influence on it, it just seem impossible lol,

Ill have to give it a go on the weekend when I have more time

The point about the cold is not because it makes it harder to remove, the cold makes the plastic harder (more brittle) so when it flex's (and it WILL) the chances of it splitting are dramatically higher!

Wait until the weather warms up 1st, you can't paint in the cold anyway.
