« on: April 21, 2009, 11:33:36 pm »
As above really how do i remove the base under the ariel on the roof, i am guessing i have to pull the trim and lining back to reveal a bolt. If so how does the trim come off .  :happy2:

i havent done it on a mk5 to be honest, but i have with a mk4.

it really is a tough job, becuase you dont want to bend the headlining.

theres a lot of torx screws to remove around rear grab handles, rear lights etc. you will need to remove the C pillar covers too. and possible the B. that will give you enough room to move it outa the way without bending the lining.

then you'll need a 14mm (i think) spanner to take off the bolt, then pull the base out from the outside.

+ BHP for not spamming good sir? haha!

You big lot of wusses,  when I did my black suede headlining I had to take the lot out I actually did my shark fin antenne at the time but I had to drill the roof :surprised:  now that is scarey but has long has your carefull it is quite easy.

Behind the airbag badges on the c pillars there is 1 torx screw on each side the trim at the top rear most part just pulls off.  drop the c-pillars down abit and take the top trim off then the headlining will drop down watch you dont mess with the side airbags cos they join just in front of the antenna.
