I'm working 70hrs a week this week. Sadly that's not an unusual occurrence in my line of work. I do get paid well for it, but it doesn't leave much time to modify. I do the odd things myself (changed the light bulbs myself today for example) and I'd fit seats myself and things - but when it comes to mechanicals or paint I will give it to a specialist, and pay up.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and tbh the "scene " is all about aspirational cars and those with deeper pockets build more desirable cars. I'm not saying that's 100% the case, but more often than not.
I don't lament the scene for it. I do however hate trailer queens. I love my car but at the moment it's filthy, needs a good hoover and some centre caps. It's a car and I use it as one
