Vulcan to the Sky......anybody else feel the same way?
« on: January 18, 2012, 08:21:20 am »
I've stopped supporting this charity, it's been a great project, it just seems the frequency of fundraising emails and the amount they always seem to need seems to always be increasing.

To be honest ve just got a bit jaded with the constant constant fundraising and email with their latest target to ensure that the old girl doesnt get grounded which always seem to be a background "threat" which would be a shame as the money raised already and the efforts of many including many on here would be wasted.

Alas I  think the time has come to have a rethink as to the way forward, maybe inhibit and mothball until the economy improves. It's very sad and I make my wages in aviation and it's a great sight but I also think the availability has been lacking due to a restricted program or unserviceabilitys

Value for money for those who fund it?

Can't see why it can't be lottery funded?

I'd buy more lottery tickets if it was!

I understand where you are coming from Dave and I agree. Not feeling flush at the moment due to various unforeseen expenses but having said that I feel over the years I have more than contributed my fair amount and that was without seeing her last year.  :sad1:

If she's to be grounded then fair enough. It will be sad but not unexpected in todays economic climate.

Complete shame I agree, in a petrol / Jet A1 fuelled forum such as pprune/here you can see its popular but in a wider context its difficult probably for the lottery to get involved  as they're too busy funding the disabled lesbian atheist front of Judea.

That said they've done a cracking job of keeping the old girl going so far so maybe a lottery injection could be revisited.

I'm getting three emails a week from them now, twas a hard decision to tell my email program it's Spam but it unfortunately had to be done, bit like prolonging the agony of a suffering pet sometimes you just have to call it.

I know she had a Heritage Lottery payout when they first conceived the notion of the return to flight. In fact it still dictates to a certain degree on how she is run. i.e. No commercial livery, etc.

With this year being the Queens Diamond Jubilee plus 30 years since the Falklands I believe it is a special event and to have her flying would be excellent. It would take someone like Nick Mason or someone of his means to inject a considerable lump, hell if I won a considerable sum on the lottery I would.  :ashamed:
