Candy turbo did have a cayman before so I dont think kids are a hindrance?

Thats the thing, he had the cayman, but changed back to a hot hatch and loves it.  Says alot IMO.

If i spend 30k+ on a car, it wont be a hot hatch or sports coupe, it would be a big luxurious saloon for everyday driving.  I personally like hot hatches for hooning around on track, they work very well in all weathers, dont bite you in the ass when you lose it and are generally pretty cheap to run, buy and modify.

Its exactly why i bought this car.  £14k brand new.  Throw 3k of mods at it and it'll happily stay with 30k hot hatches all day long, whilst being much better on fuel, cheaper on tyres, brakes etc etc.  That said i dont feel the need to go out street racing in the middle of the night, so this is ample for me.

The alternative is to buy a much more high performance focused car which hgas many many pitfalls.

Example, my mate has a WR1 Impreza with about 340hp.  Yes, its awesome out of the box through the twisties, has bucket loads of grip but he manages 15mpg ish at best, very low single figures on track, its far to loud for normal use, costs a bomb to service, replace brakes and tyres etc.
He actually prefers my car and is now looking at changing it in for a smaller hot hatch

What I don't get is you keep swapping and changing cars as obviously you generally lose money everytime you do, but in your case it doesn't make sense to me, ed30, s3, megane, frs, rocco r, they are all the same sh*te, good cars non the less but hardly a massive change or difference from what you haven't already had. Yes I've driven the megane sport, mk2 Leon Cupra, s3 etc and on the road there isn't a that much of a difference between em. What in trying to get at is instead of wasting money on hotted up hatchbacks why not get something special in the first place which you might actually hang on to for a while because it pushes all the right buttons. Right now you are just side stepping instead of upgrading when it comes to your car choices!

Can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with what Pov says 100%!!

yes i had a cayman ...and hated it i prefered driving mrs s candys fabia vrs , i do have a 1 year old but we dont use my cars as daily s so that dont effect what car i choose , ive always swapped cars regular at one point i did nt tax a car for years and yes i ve lost loads of money in the past (if fact i dont want to think about it ) but im 42 have a very small mortgage which only has a few years left to run , dont smoke dont drink (that much) so cars are my passion , i have a pretty well paid job worked for same company since i left school
if i  wanted to spend £35k on a car i would have a TTRS already cause i think they are cracking car , i ve always had hot hatches , love them , had an RS turbo escort when i was 18 and had nearly every one since
back to the rocco , drove them 1 after the other with the meg this morning and with out doubt i prefere the meg it just feels so much better , it feels like a comfortable track car on the road if you ever get the chance to drive one , do it and i m pretty sure you ll be impressed
got to admit when i dropped the rocco back today was a bit sad if i had nt already drove the megane would have had the rocco for sure , if any one is after one my mate has 2x white ones a black one and a green one all 11 plates full spec ex demo s with up to 4k miles on all around £25k to joe public

I don't think you should have to justify how much you lose on cars pal, sounds like jealousy to me, if you wanna change cars every 6 months that's up to you, I will say it again, Clio v6, probs won't lose much on tht either, and you could get the proper yellow ( liquid yellow) not that custard rubbish :signLOL: oh hang on m3 csl?
