Yeh lets not pretend all HGV drivers are saints!! 

i am not trying to paint HGV drivers as saints at all, alot of them are far from it. everyone could throw scenarios in about both sides but i only wanted to ask a question and i thought this would be a good place to ask it as its a car drivers forum

Normally I am very good, but did almost get caught out the other day as myself and another car slipped in front of a lorry before our exit. Would have been fine apart from car in front braked to about 30mph to take a 120 degree bend! I was almost pushing it up the slip road.

So apologies for that one.

thanks for your honesty, its easily done, it wasnt til i started driving HGV's that i realised how easy it is as a car driver to get yourself into a dangerous situation

I nearly got out of my car once to smack a Hgv driver same scene as jhtrophy IE up my arse in a 50 zone I had my 3 year old son in his child seat and it was easy to see him in the seat and let's put this way he got told to back the feck off I have a child in the back and think about how quickly I can stop and he can't and he could kill someone. He did not do it again I hope

I'm obviously not angry at you fella, but if I went on a scania forum and started a thread and said do you sit up my arse in a truck ant get wound up be because you can still go 6 mph more, I would get an argument from a trucker point Of view, swings and roundabouts, world is full of idiots, some drive BMW, some scanias.

fair point mate, i havent meant it as a wind up to car drivers, it was a question  i had thought about a few times and just thought i would ask the question. i didnt want to wind anybody up and i am not trying to make HGV drivers out to be saints, as i know only to well alot arent.  Maybe i should have left the bit out about me being a HGV driver out of the OP and said i had noticed my question as an observation, not having a dig at car drivers at all, i am one myself after all

I've found it just varies as much as ordinary drivers. Some seem to respect the road and other road users. Others seem to think they have right of way.

In all honesty, I stay away from HGV drivers. If I have to overtake, I'll use the outside lane instead of just the middle lane. I watch what's in front of them as well as me so I can anticipate. I've seen HGV drivers in the outside lanes of motorways. Don't trust 'em.

I always try to leave plenty of space even when im behind one, as i cant see what is ahead if im too close.

My girlfriend wonder why i got funn with her the other night, when on a wet busy m62 she decided to die infront of an artic as we had entered a 50mph roadwork section   still dont think she understood or understood why she got lots of light flashing and a lot of horn

yeah there is a few truck drivers forums, i only go on 1 of them, http://www.trucknetuk.com/, its not a ranting station about car drivers, alot of ranting about other HGV drivers lol

So its ok for the HGV driver to tailgate or intimidate as you call it, but when the intimdating is on the other foot theres no need for it?

O and lets not forget the truck going 0.1mph faster than the other overtaking on a dual carriageway  

Ah, elephant racing. I followed two HGVs for just under 10 miles once before the guy trying to overtake gave in and pulled back in behind his "competitor". I reckon there was a tailback of about 2 miles somewhere between Scotch Corner and Newton Aycliffe.

i shall make myself clearer then, there was no need for the HGV driver to be tailgating, it was just intimidation on the HGV drivers part who would have deserved a slap............jeez, talk about getting hold of the wrong end of the stick

on a side note i have full respect for lorry drivers for two reasons...

first when my mate had an accident once (someone hit him up the rear) the lorry pulled over to block other cars as it was a dual carriageway so we could all safely get across the lanes pushing the cars!

second when it was my granddads funeral there was 5 cars following the hearse, at a set of traffic lights the hearse turned right and oncoming cars ment the convoy got broken up, an eddie stowbart lorry blocked both lanes to let all the cars across in one go!

full respect to them, although ive seen a few wrist exercisers as well
