Tyre advice
« on: January 23, 2012, 12:20:52 pm »
Don't worry it's not another tyre advice thread... Even though title says that

Bought 2 new Vredestein ultrac sessanta tyres around 2K mikes ago, came out last week to find a huge nail sticking out the sidewall rendering it unrepairable! Now I'm looking at buying another set but my Q is, I'm gonna replace the rear tyres to, so I have a full Vredestein set. Should I just buy 4 and keep the part used one as a spare OR should I buy 3 and move the used tyre to the rear!? Seems simple but looking for advise, would prefer to save £120 If poss! Also would 3 new & 1 part used tyre have any affects on having a 4 wheel geo setup (which I'm having done after new bushed ams WALK)

I would buy three tyres and put the used one on the rear.
Without traction power is nothing!

If it was me i would swap in pairs if you can afford to do so if not i dont think it would be too drastic as long as you get the same tyres as the part worn one

I don't like to do things in halves so was thinking of buying a set of 4 Vredesteins but since I already have one fitted which is only been used for around 2K I thought 3 would do the trick! The used one being on the back, all 4 tyres will be same brand. Any ideas what I could do with the Vredestein with the nail in it? It's in the sidewall so isn't repairable but a few people have mentioned a heat treatment may do the Job. Can't remember the name they used

I would put 3 new tyres on as 2K on the other tyre is nothing and will only have used maybe 1mm of tread so will be fine to leave where it is.
