Both got away with speeding on their way to work as "They were called in as emergency cover" which was under extenuating circumstances, which I think translates as the "Police excuse for looking after your own"

"Reasonable suspicion" is something one of them told me about (he is a traffic copper), it was laughable.

Don't see the problem. If you are a high speed pursuit driver and you are testing a car for high speed pursuit you need to test it going fast when it's quiet. You need to know how it will handle when chasing some drugged up nutter in a built up area in rush hour.

And it was the same deal for the copper doing 140mph (although I think he was re-tried and did get some sort of punishment) it was the middle of the night, the road was empty and he was the pursuit instructor. If your pursuit car is very twitchy at 130mph on cats eyes worth knowing before you start chasing someone.  I think for breathalysers police do a routine stop and say oh by the way have you been drinking ? And if you say no they have reasonable doubt as you look defensive :-)

I thought it was just policy to breathalyse anyone involved in a collision were the police are in attendence? They always seem too.

here is another example of Manchester police

I'm pretty sure they were just normal (as in not traffic) officers though.

just says  "who are police constables from the Trafford division" but even if they are or not they should be sacked

" Called in for emergency cover" and you would expect them to drive slowly ?

I breathalised a man during the Christamas Drink Drive campaign about 15 years ago who was three times the limit and looked sober and gave off no signs of being drunk , he had had an accident. That is enough suspicion that they might be over limit. Any accident is generally breathalised now.
Every driver should vote to be breath tested randomly to bring that law in or to reduce the alcohol limit to zero. If you have ever had to tell someone their child has been killed by a drink driver (or anyone linked to a drink drive death to be honest) you will know why this is the only way forward .

And the evidence here is that they were suspended from duty , which does not indicate to me that Manchester Police intend to do nothing about it

Just give the police Apache helicopters. Anyone who fails to stop isn't going to outrun a Hellfire.

Also anyone failing a breath test gets executed on the spot and left with a sign on saying "drink driver"

Soon stop it all

The above is why i'm not in charge though :signLOL:
