Garage Vary Lip installed! (finally...)

Being so busy at work, really didn't have much time to install this over the past few weeks. Finally got around to it!

As is so often the case with well made JDM parts, there is perfect fitment... and this lip was no different.

I wasn't a fan of the lips that were on offer mainstream (e.g OSIR, kerscher, etc) so I decided to see what the JDM market has to offer. Tendy actually told me about how Garage Vary has parts offerings for the VW Golf R and Scirocco R platforms. After seeing his car, I bit the bullet.

Although the instructions were in Japanese, it's very simple to work out. The front lip has 5 holes and 5 screws which require you to screw the lip to the underside of the bumper to hold it in place. It also came with a very thin strip of double stick tape stuck towards the back of the lip where it's meant to hold the lip in place while you screw in the supplied screws through the 5 holes, but I decided this wasn't enough so I used some strong 3M double stick tape from Bunnings to hold it in place.

The lip fits the curvature of the middle part of the Golf R bumper very nicely. The lip did not need any bending or anything of the sort. It was just a matter of measure, peel, stick, screw, and done. Whole thing took roughly 30 minutes to install.

Unlike the Kerscher/EZ lip, this lip doesnt reduce the distance from the floor to the bumper as it's designed to fit in the middle part of the Golf R bumper where it slightly elevates. Not only that, it now compliments the OSIR Carbon Fibre mirror covers.

Enough rambling....here's the only decent photo I could get with my phone. Thanks again goes to Morph for giving me the contact who sent this over from Japan

Cool looking car. Your mirror caps are genuine carbon? Are they OEM or custom?

New intake (Volant) and finally put my TT-S Engine cover on

Also a small cosmetic update. Bought this badge with white inners from Bold Sport. However, not 100% happy. Reason being is because they do not use the OEM badge housing to hold the VW badge in place of the grille. The housing is a chinese copy. Having said that, it stays on but it doesn't "click" on as well as my OEM one. And, because the housing itself is the bit which was painted white, even if I was to change it to the OEM, it'll be useless.

I might do a DIY and just spray paint an OEM housing myself. I still have a can of Candy White paint left. But to be honest, I dont think I like the look of it....maybe it'll have to grow on me. For now, I left it. Might run it for a week.....at this stage though, I like the black better.

Alright so next on the list : necessities/maintenance

- new tyres (looking at Michelin Pilot Sport 3 or Goodyear Assym2's) 235/35/19 for the OEM talledagas

- new rotors (OEM rotors are shot. Need a good OEM or OEM-like slotted option)

- new brake pads (looking at Remsas due to low dust and OEM feel)

Things left to do :
- BBK (Brembo 6 pot or Porsche 996TT 4pot)
- Wheels
- Installing DEFI Oil pressure + EGT gauges
- Installing HALDEX Gen 4
- Installing Okuyama Carbing under bracing
- Spoon Rigid Collars

Not long now till it's "complete" but big ticket items like wheels and brakes will make my wallet take a massive hit. Then who knows? Bigger turbo? Where does it stop? lol

I've decided for the time being to get some plain rotors but made by Fremax. And the pads I'm going to go with the Remsas and swap out the hawk ceramics.

Rationale is that I can go slotted 2pc floating rotor if/when I go the 6 pot BBKs. Till then, no need to spend much more on slotted options now. The current rotors are the same rotors from when I took delivery and have worn down.

Speaking of wearing down, I need new tyres. Now that the brakes have been sorted, have to tend to the other essential replacement and that is tyres. They've lasted 45000 from the showroom floor and quite impressed.

Great progress as usual, any reason for you avoiding the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 235/35-19?
Aren't they available in Australia?

Hey mate

Im thinking of getting Michelin Pilot Super Sports actually. But tyres here in Australia are so damn expensive that most of us get them over the internet and have it delivered. Much cheaper
