What head unit?
« on: January 26, 2012, 01:55:33 pm »
Hi, I've brought an 07 gti but I'm yet to pick it up. Im quite/very new to all this, rns, rcd, and all the lingo associated with it.

Was there a particular basic standard model stereo fitted to the golfs and if so what would mine likely be? It has a 6cd changer in the armrest if that helps. The reason being is I want iPod connectivity and when Looking round the car I couldn't see it so I want to sort something out to fit myself.

I know I'm being impatient and I should probably wait to get the car but I just want to find out more about it so I can start planning stuff lol.

I bought the Kenwood and I'm really happy with it. The touchscreen can  be a bit tricky to use on the move but I'm sure all touchscreen units are the same!

Are there any OEM iPod connection units I can just plug into the standard stereo for now as I don't want to fork out another grand after I just brought the car. That does look nice though, but I can't afford it right now

IF you search for MDI Kit you'll get what you're looking for, probably the cheapest option

http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/vw/DNX520VBT/

does this one have freeview built in.

No it doesn't, if you look at the bottom of that link it shows the accessories for the it and there's a choice of 2 different DVB tuners amongst other things
