Yep, coil packs have been done.

If it turns out to be the spark plugs I'll go mad. I specifically asked when it was in for it's major service at the end of July to change them, but they argued that they didn't advise they were changed. This is bearing in mind that the car has now done 46k miles. Surely it would have been far easier when they replaced the coil packs anyway!

Andrew I'm going to be in Huddersfield from 12-30 till around 2:30. I can plug in VCDS around that time.

The above are the logs I took today, I couldn't find the block for the MAF.

I noticed that the revs stuttered downward when you revved it gently. So if you rev it to 2000RPM it comes down slowly, sticks at 1400RPM then comes down again. The engine was revving to 900RPM, once I cleared the fault it went lower to 800RPM.

Can you carry out a basic setting for the EVAP system?

I meant a link to the actual fault code that the car has thrown up. I'm pretty sure it was this one - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16825/P0441/001089 - but I can't be sure.

Ahh, that's really interesting. I did read another post (this one - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,37012.0.html) where the canister was to blame. It will be interesting to see if it solves their problem.

I've just checked the hoses on my car and everything looks good. I'm guessing that part is pretty easy to fit too (famous last words!).

Well after many weeks it appears this problem is finally fixed.

I resorted to dropping my car off at VW Huddersfield and telling them I didn't want it back until it was resolved!

Following replacing the DV, N80 Solenoid Valve, charcoal canister and PCV I was still having issues with the Exhaust System Warning light, a sticking throttle, and rising revs at idle.

It turned out that when the PCV was replaced they didn't change the breather pipe, which had actually split. There was also another hose going into the vacuum valve that was split, so quite a few air leaks. The replacement charcoal canister was also deemed to be faulty, so that was replaced again.

Now I have my car back the differences are unbelievable. I never thought the performance had been effected, but I was wrong. Fuel economy is up, and the car feels very quick again.
