anyone retro fitted a front armrest?

if so cost, complexity and did you get the rear vents working too?

costs about £190 for the kit, its fairly easy to do but the rear vents can be a pain

i've heard people say dealers can cost upto £1k!!!

i'll have to look at the links when i get home ;-)

isn't a whole centre console/tunnel required though etc.?

are the rear vents quite functional from standard fit?

the ebay link gives you all the parts, although if you want air to go to the back you need to pay the extra £7.50 for the duct, im not sure how functional the rears are as i have never sat in the back

he even gives you instructions for fitting (minus the ducting fitting guide)

I was going to ask what happens if you have a centre mount disc changer as the images in the PDF show just a large storage bin but looking at the image on the eBay listing which is clearly different as it has single DIN slot, it would appear that there are two versions, one of which accomodates a disc changer - is this correct? Persumably this is denoted by part numbers?

i think there are different ones as you mentioned, as the one with cd changer is different moulding inside etc

Plus the central duct to the rear vent is different for each of the types.

I had mine fitted by www.rac-london.co.uk.
I supplied all the parts including rear vent pipe work after
getting all the part numbers off the net.
I dont think you can get the non cd changer version in the uk anymore
it used to be supplied by Vagparts before they ceased trading.
From what i remember fitting was under £200 to fit it all
with working rear vents. I also had the front cup holder replaced with
the version with a sliding cover. The rear vents dont give out loads of air but
iam glad i had them connected up. Who wants dummy vents.

im also looking at installing the armrest in my golf read the guide but would want the rear vents to work ideally anyone else got an idea of how to retro fit them? rather not pay £200 for the armrest then £200 for fitting!

i got an arm rest with an interior i bought and fitted it my self, pretty easy i didnt bother with the ducting as it wasnt present when i fitted mine. There isnt a lot of room in there tbh, presume you would have to remove the centre console which is a bit of a pain the first time you do it as theres a load of hidden screws , defo worth reading the how to on vortex.

If Vw are charging upto £1000 to fit. Then £200 seems like a bargain.
I've seen pictures of the install to get rear vents working and the car looks
a mess during the process. I didn't want to take on such a job. Its upto 4 hours to do i read somewhere.
And knowing my luck something would get broken. If you've got leather you need to by the armrest pad separately.

i think the leather is also another £80
so even just for armrest (not connecting rear vents) is close to £300 in parts

It's rapidily becoming an expensive retro fit..
