EDITION 30 Oil change
« on: January 28, 2012, 08:22:16 am »
Hello chaps
I've a free couple of days next week and wanted to give the car an oil change. Can anyone tell me if I need a specific filter tool and any peculiarities about this procedure? I'll have access to a good trolley jack and axle stands - is the filter easily accessible once the plastic lower cover is removed? Anything else I should check while I'm down there?!
Cheers.

36mm socket to remove filter.... Once the cover if off tho use a flat head to push the nib up and to the side to let it draim before removing.

Thanks for that. Is a 36 mm socket or spanner a Halfords item or do I need to order from VW?

That is bloomin' fantastic! Many thanks. I did a search but didn't find this guide.
I'm glad I've chosen to do my oil on the coldest week of the year.  At least the oil will be warm!
Thanks again. Have a good weekend.

Great link there thanks DOMT.

I'll be tackling the Octavia soon so I'm guessing it'll be the same.

No worries - I definitely found it easier with the right sized socket - the plastic housing of the oil filter can be prone to shearing if put under too much stress.
