problems with new clutch
« on: January 28, 2012, 03:30:09 pm »
Hi guys managed to get down to the garage to pick the car up after clutch fitting guys says problems with it and has bled it numerous times but cannot sort the issue.

Basically it will not go into reverse will the engine is started :fighting: it is hard to get into first gear when its started when driving its does go into gear but roughly and notchy, when in reverse and first with the clutch depressed you can feel the engine and clutch grabbing??

Also a chattering noise from the clutch when depressed,

The clutch is a Southbend stage 2 daily which includes the flywheel, pressure plate and basically everything needed to change out the original, spoken to Darkside and its going to them on Monday but just wanted to see if anyone else has had anything like this before??

Just to make you aware when the car is off the gears go in perfectly also the clutch pedal feels better than OEM

Right.  :happy2: By 99 % the clutch plate is wrong way !!

Darren, don't drive your car !! Changing gear will damage your gear box !!

Cheers Bruce but the bloody garage had already done 40 miles in it and now I've got to get it to the clutch supplying garage for them to sort the mess out.

Let them pick up you car with a truck. I would not take any risk, Darren.
It's your gear box, not theirs.

ps:
If you really really really need to drive do it carefully and shift very very
slowly while a bit on gas to reach the correct revs for the next gear -
similar to a non synchronized gearbox in a vintage car. ;-)
You also can put in first gear (no need to press clutch) with engine off
and then start the engine.
