Most popular seems to be the Revo as you can play around with the Boost/Timing etc and change maps, take a look here

Any of the main players in the market (Revo, Superchips, APR and GIAC) seem to produce good maps for the GTi .... as in the link above.

Others may also produce the goods but the main ones definitely do though are potentially a bit dearer.

Not sure if Custom Code was included in that link but they have a really good name too ....

There are many others who buy maps in.  Doesn't mean they are bad - just you may want to search for reviews or come here or look at other forums for people who have actually used them to get first hand feedback.

For REVO there is Votex in South Cheshire. Have read some favourable reviews on their service. www.votex.ltd.uk

Awesome GTI in Manchester do the APR maps and know the model inside out.

If you want a Superchips map then i can recommend the blufin unit and it can be uploaded from the comfort of your own home.

JKM performance in Portsmouth were the cheapest i could find at £390 including delivery and it arrived the next day.

There are plenty reviews on this site about each option but recommend staying with one of the proven tuners rather than taking a cheap option. Your choice ultimately depends on how you want your power delivery. The bluefin remap i have delivers the power very similar to stock, just more of it. The major boost in power is also where it is required, i.e. in the overtaking band.

The other consideration i took when choosing which map was how far you want to modify the car. If you intend to upgrade your exhaust and intake, then a remap like revo uploaded by a proffesional would be better as they can do pre and post remap diagnostics on your car to adjust it better to match your modifications. It's much harder to do this with the bluefin unit.
Why do they call it rush hour when nothing moves?

Hi
Unfortunately no :(
But quality is worth that bit more ;)
But then I would say that would`t I?
Definately worth trying the free trial , then you can see where your money goes
The record so far for the trial is less than a mile  :jumping: and that was a MK5 Golf IIRC
But as people get it , I always say "Its like taking candy from a baby"
But seeings as it is free , you may as well have a go , even if you dont get the full APR burn

Hi Sarah.

I had my Golf mk5 GT TSi 170ps remapped by Custom Tuning.

It takes it to 198bhp - I don't really feel much difference on take-off ,  but i do in lower gear on the motorway.

I was going to get AWESOME chip - i read ur post somewhere else.

I was told however by dealers in UK that Awesome didnt make a chip for the GT TSi 170ps - or if there was, they didn't have it.

Shall await your reply,

Richard

@sarah : can I get a discount Sarah for punting APR then  lol

@chip20 : free trial is a good idea  :happy2:
One word of caution , if you get a trial (from APR/REVO etc) , then going to the full map is easy.
However if you dont want the map (or choose to go to another tuner) then you MUST ask for your car to be reflashed to stock (not stock like). There have been issues where multiple trials have been attempted and it didnt go well.
So its best to make sure the cars map is clean in this scenario.

If you go trial then full for same vendor there isnt an issue.  :happy2:

@richi : if you have some questions about different model and awesome specifically feel free to start your own thread  :happy2:

Enjoy
