Luckily i am fortunate enough to not need to drive the car during the week. So it sits in the drive. But still, even after the drive back from UD on Sunday, they are minging. Sorted again this weekend no doubt.  :happy2: Car is with DMR on Monday, so looking forward to that as well.

Amazing brakes. How much for the white refurbed calipers and how much for the kit from DaveB (lines and carriers+bolts) ?

You are looking at £400-450 approx for a set of calipers (not including anti squeal shims, or brake pads), and £250 approx for a fitting kit including brake lines. Other parts you need to source are:

Suitable pads
Suitable discs (Dave can supply a variety, standard or j-hooked)
Anti squeal shims

I also purchased pagid cera tec anti squeal paste which is cheap. But proper synthetic stuff.

Always best contacting Dave in the first instance.

There is a Mk5 setup for sale in the classifieds at a bargain price. All you need is to buy a set of brake pads.

Wheels have arrived from Ireland. Not happy with the finish on them at all.  :sad1: They definitely need a full refurb. Will end up costing me a fortune by the time they are finished.

Also mega pissed off that one of the BBS bolts is missing. Now i know where its missing from as well, you can even see it clearly missing on the original photos of the wheels.  :fighting:

They were advertised on a few forums. Originally purchased from Edition 38, described as freshly refurbished. Sent over to NI and didnt fit in front of a Brembo GT kit without spacers. So i bought them from him.

Original advert where i saw them on Club GTI

I would have been really annoyed if i paid asking price. You can see the far left wheel with a missing bolt by the valve. Jason has arranged to get a replacement bolt sent out from PW Motorsport directly to me, but its all still hassle.

Well, today im rather depressed. Firstly, the wheels werent quite as good a condition as i hoped for ............fresh refurb............... standards. Fresh DIY refurb maybe, but the finish is pretty rubbish. A BBS bolt was missing from them, considering they were all meant to be new and genuine ........... -1.

And i was really, really hoping that the ET35 BBS rims would clear my brakes without issues. Errrrr..............no. Not even close.

The wheel needs a minimum of a 5mm spacer, even being 11mm difference in offset. Actually really frustrated at this point, as Dave told me 3mm would be fine for standard rims. It wasnt, i needed a 15mm spacer on the front to clear the standard rims.

So with that in mind............i will now need to run 5mm spacers on the BBS RK504 as well. Not only that, they need a refurbish before i put them anywhere near the car on a permanent basis, as they just look crap.

On the upside, once they are done ------------------ and by this time then will have cost me more than £900 (is it really worth it? why dont i just get some brand new replicas?????) they will actually look really decent, and pretty rare. And im certain nobody else will be running these on a Polo GTI.

The offset is an indication of the inner rim clearance but it is not exact. You need to find the inner rim profile and measure it to see if the brakes fit.
I have the same caliper and I tried some OEM and non OEM rims. Some require spacers others don't. There are some differences because of the different wheel offset and brake disc bell.
1. BBS VZ 032 - I have these rims on my car and I don't need a spacer. These are 5x112 so they won't fit your car but I am willing to bet that a BBS CH would fit without a spacer.
2. Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 -  I have these rims for track days and the brake clearance is HUGE. I would buy a 8x17 anthracite rims if I had your car.

Bear in mind that, no matter what rims you buy, the rim clearance must be huge very close to the hub:

Hope this helps!  :drinking:

I know Rex. I have had 10s of cars with big brakes. I ran TD PR 1.2 on my Clio 200 which was way more clearance than the standard rims. I just hoped these would clear.

I would have just ordered pr 1.2 but the wife wouldn't let me "every Chav car has them" so wanted something different.

Just fed up. I can't really afford the refurb now either after spunking £500 on the rims that I didn't have. But needed to do something as not comfortable running 15mm spacers. Which incidentally only give a couple of mm clearance on the brakes.

"Every chav" here!

This is one reason why people go for tdpr's. The BBS alloys you have are most likely going to scrub badly on the outer rim with the spacers. Even a 5mm spacer will lower the ET down to 30 and in my opinion that will be too low. Basically you will need a super stretch tyre to get away with it and that would defeat the purpose of having the brakes fitted in the first place.
Golf R gone.

I know. I love Tds. But the wife has seen yours John and blades before and "thinks it will look awful." :(

Just a bit peeved.

Not sure I could even get my cash back that I paid for the BBS RKs by selling them on.

Easier to just refit standard brakes. Lol. :fighting:
